[MM] KUALA LUMPUR: Traders at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman do not know who Jamal Md Yunus is.
Those interviewed by The Malay Mail looked blank when his name was mentioned, somewhat peculiar, considering Jamal, who is also the KL Petty Traders Action Council chairman, had said he operates a stall in the area having received a licence from City Hall, 25 years ago.
Jamal had led 100 traders to protest near Bersih co-chairman Datuk S. Ambiga's house over alleged losses during the Bersih 3.0 rally on April 28.
He led the burger stall protest there on May 10.
Most of the traders at Jalan TAR felt Jamal had either political motives or self-interest for leading the protest. Some potent comments:
Aziz Sulaiman, 26: "I do not know him. If he was sincere, he would have helped us before Bersih 3.0 happened."
Razali Awang, 40: "It's not right. It feels like he's doing this to make himself famous.

Daiman Mohamad Yunus, 66: "If he was sincere, he would try to help those without licences to get them."
Jamal reportedly owns 18 restaurant outlets under the Sekinchan Ikan Bakar Restaurant chain and a permit to import luxury cars.
He said the protest outside Ambiga's home was purely motivated by the need to reclaim losses incurred by Jalan TAR petty traders during the rally and rejected claims that Umno was supporting the anti-Bersih protest.
